Canvey Island Infant School & Nursery

Learning is a journey, not a destination

Safeguarding

The safeguarding of children is an essential element of the work of the governing board, it is the underlying principle in all that we do. Therefore, Canvey Island Infant School & Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We aim to provide a positive, safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the policies section on our website.

  • All Canvey Island Infant & Nursery staff and governors have undertaken and are up to date with safeguarding training, as well as receiving on-going support and information to help them execute their safeguarding responsibilities effectively.
  • Pupils are encouraged to adopt and live out the schools learning Values. These complement the key “British Values” of tolerance, respect, understanding, compassion and harmonious living.
  • Safeguarding policies are reviewed regularly by the Headteacher and Governing Body and updated in response to national guidance and model documents.
  • Pupils are taught how to keep themselves safe, in school and when using the internet.
  • We will ensure that all visitors to the school are made aware of our commitment to safeguarding.
